Overview

Morning
Edinburgh to Highland Perthshire
You leave Edinburgh and travel over the Queensferry Crossing, enjoying views of the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you journey north through the Kingdom of Fife, the scenery transforms from the rolling farmland of the Lowlands to forested hills and mountains as you approach the Highland Fault line in Perthshire.

Mid Morning
Highland Perthshire, Dunkeld & the Hermitage
Continuing through Perthshire, often referred to as "Big Tree Country," you find the gorgeous cathedral town of Dunkeld situated on the banks of the River Tay. You stop here and have the chance to explore the architecturally fascinating cathedral or walk the quaint streets of this picturesque village. It's a short drive from here to the Hermitage, where you can take a fantastic woodland walk amongst majestic Douglas firs and ancient oaks leading up to the stunning Black Linn Falls.

Afternoon
Highland Perthshire , Pitlochry & Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery
Leaving the Hermitage you follow the River Tay towards the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry. Here you have lunch and some time to stroll past traditional pubs and local cafes. Then, you take a scenic drive through the mountains of Highland Perthshire, and take a short stop at the Queen's View overlooking Loch Tummel. On a clear day the view here is awe-inspiring as it looks over to Schiehallion, "mountain of the faeries” in Gaelic. From here, you travel to the town of Aberfeldy and Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery, where you can discover the secret of making whisky. You pay for a tour around the distillery and do some guided tasting, or sit and relax in the Dewar's bar.

Early Evening
Highland Perthshire to Edinburgh
After you've enjoyed a dram of our ‘water of life', the tour returns through rich forests of Highland Perthshire heading south to the Lowlands and back to Edinburgh.
You return to Edinburgh at approximately 6.30pm.

Dewar's Whisky Distillery
Discover how the gold-rich waters of the local burn influence the rich flavours of Aberfeldy whisky, distilled and matured in Dewars distillery since 1898

Black Linn Falls
Best experienced from the balcony of neighboring Ossian’s Hall, the roaring waters of the River Braan collide into foaming pools among giant Douglas firs

The Hermitage Ossian’s Hall
Built as a tribute to a giant’s son and still standing 250 years later, even after a gunpowder blast, this ancient temple rises amid towering firs

Dunkeld Cathedral
Construction of Dunkeld Cathedral took about 250 years. Today this romantic ruin is the historic crown of this picture perfect village on the River Tay

Loch Tummel Queen's View
Named after the wife of Robert the Bruce or maybe Queen Victoria? However this beauty spot on Loch Tummel got its name it lives up to its royal heritage

Pitlochry
Stroll through the village streets of Pitlochry and enjoy warm local hospitality as you explore the charming shops and cafes.
